in “JILL’S WORLD”. Hhhmmm…I, SIMPLY, cannot make this stuff up, folks. Come along…we’re taking another trip…WOO-WHOOOOOO!!!
Where to begin??? Hhhmmm… Chase, my son, received his driver’s license on his birthday in May. He is, however, now taking PHASE II, “Behind The Wheel” of the driver’s training course in order to reduce our car insurance premiums. WOO-WHOOOOOO!!! EVERY LITTLE BIT “HELPS,” right??? RIGHT!!! DOUBLE WOO-WHOOOOOO, WOO-WHOOOOOO!!!
So, I figured I’d drop Chase off on Day #1 and get right to work early …HA!!! Chase and I arrived at the tax collector’s office-on the South end of town at 8:55-ish am, ET-about 5 minutes early. 1 other teen-aged girl, Sarah, was sitting there and waiting. Hhhmmm…it appeared the class had been moved to another location!!! Way out on the other side of town!!! Okay, no problem. 2 friendly employees gave us verbal directions to the new location and “OFF” we went…heading somewhere…out there…with poor Sarah along with us for the ride. :/
I figured the class was probably going to be at the same location where Danielle had taken this exact same course 2 years ago. So, we left that tax collector’s office with me feeling capable and confident!!! Yep… both kids would make it to the class…just a WEE-BIT LATE!!! So, we were “OFF” alright…and I quickly got “LOST” in that very parking lot while simply “trying” to vacate the property!!! Aaahhhhhh!!! HOW EMBARRASSING!!! I bet Sarah was a bit nervous at that point!!! Fearful…maybe??? :/ Hhhmmm…Onward, Christian Soldier!!! Just keep moving forward.
Friendly chatter filled the van on our drive out to the other location…until we were getting closer to where I thought we needed to go. I was wrong, folks. It appears things have changed a bit since Danielle took this course. It was NOT where I thought I knew I was going!!! BAM!!! We were “LOST”… AGAIN!!! I must have turned around 2-3 times in an attempt to get where we had no idea of where we were going!!! Aaahhhhhh!!! Okay, I was getting a bit…???…???…??? nervous or frazzled at this point…
So we decided to go straight to the tax collector’s office right out there, North of town, by the St. Johns County Courthouse. Quick check with a gentleman behind the glass window…revealed NOTHING!!! We were given a phone number to call seeking info., initially, but were then directed to a gentleman–back behind the glass window– who could provide verbal directions to the correct location. YES!!! “So, what’s the name of the building,” I asked??? “There is no name of the building,” he said!!! (I really think I observed a smirk on his face as he reported that to me) :/ WHAT???!!!???!!!???!!! THE BUILDING HAS NO NAME???!!!???!!!???!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! Oopse…I’m getting side-tracked, folks: We were “LOST” in the morning…on a road with no name. In the woods, looking for a “HUT”(building) with no name… 😉 You know the song, right??? “Horse With No Name” by the group “America”. (Stick with me, folks…)
It turned out to be back in this wooded training area for firemen/policemen. Hhhmmm… there were NO people around…BACK THERE… NONE!!! We just kept driving around…back there…somewhere…on a dirt/gravel road with no name UNTIL…we saw 2 men standing outside of a cubicle-type looking, SMALL, building. I honked from way over here where we were in the van to them way over there by that small building. They WAVED and motioned me to drive way back and around to over there. :/
Hhhmmm…but getting way back and around over there was NOT easy to accomplish from way back here where we were!!! Aaahhhhhh!!! There were big, no…they were Huge… NO…they were GIGANTIC orange cones lined up EVERYWHERE from HERE to THERE!!! DOUBLE Aaahhhhhh, Aaahhhhhh!!! How do I get way over there from way back over here??? I said to myself, “SELF: JUST DO IT!!! (Yep I’m thinkin’ about Nike’ AGAIN…JUST DO IT!!!) And so…I JUST DID IT!!! I drove around and through those orange cones…like a “PRO”…WOO-WHOOOOOO!!! 😉
Yep, I drove straight back and right up to those two men. Boy, did I feel relieved!!! Chase and I knew both of them via our school system. Whew…we got there… safe and sound!!! Yep, Chase and Sarah made it to Day 1 of this Driver’s Ed. course…ONLY an hour and 15 minutes LATE!!! OUCH!!! Better LATE than NEVER, right??? Right!!! I must admit that driving back out of that training area was tougher than getting in!!! BUT…I am proud to report that EVERY CONE WAS LEFT STANDING…after BOTH, my entrance AND…DEPARTURE!!! WOO-WHOOOOOO!!!
What an adventure, folks!!! Just another day…in “JILL’S WORLD”!!! I may get myself “LOST” A LOT, but I thank God for ALWAYS putting kind folks along my path to “HELP” my “LOST SELF” get found again!!! There were 7-such helpful individuals along today’s “JOURNEY” to that building with no name…out there somewhere…in St. Johns County…on a dirt road with no name!!! :/ The next and last 3 training sessions will begin and end at each child’s respective High School. Chase, “You’re welcome and…YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN!!!”… for the rest of the week!!! 😉
There were so many twists and turns to this one story, folks. I learned that Sarah and her family ALSO attend ABC(Anastasia Baptist Church) here on Anastasia Island in St. Augustine Beach, FL. Hhhmmm… and 2 of my co-workers at MCNRC know Sarah and/or her mother, as well!!! Boy, it’s a small, SMALL world…(yep, I’m humming the tune of Disney’s “Small World” in my mind as I type…)
Tues., 6/30/15 was a “FUN” day, folks. Beginning in the a.m. on our “JOURNEY” to the Drivers Ed. course and extending on into my “WORK” day at MCNRC!!! Pppsssttt…there is a new jingle to add to the list of “Jill’s Jingles”!!! Yep, I made up a new jingle at work today…
A new jingle about me(Jill) + Nena(my co-worker). We are called “Jina”. “Ji” from “Ji“ll + “na” from Ne”na“…= Jina. The jingle…goes like this…
“Team Jina is our name. We’re so happy. EVERY day is just the same. We go out there helping people on their way, surviving every day. We are team Jina. Oh Jina. Team Jina.” Hhhmmm…you know the tune, right? Frankie Avalon’s “Venus”??? Yep, “Jina” is another new jingle and…I LOVE IT!!!
What an AMAZING day!!! I can’t wait to see what tomorrow’s got in store…
GO TEAM!!! WE’RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!
P.H.P., folks. People Helping People
