Sat., 2/1/14…”MY” Saturday to…”work”

Okay folks, each therapist, OT’s, PT’s, and 1 ST are expected to work 5 Saturdays or Sundays per year…YESTERDAY…was one of “MY” days!!!  YES!!!  ( I believe I’ve mentioned, previously, that I LOVE MY JOB, right?)  WELL…I REALLY DO, folks!!!  🙂

A frequent “joke” at work is how I tend to… “BOND” …with the patients I work with.  This is so true…WITH MOST of those patients who end up on “MY”  daily treatment list.  These lists tend to vary…Daily!!!  And to be honest…ssshhh…not ALL patients “like” me.  Different strokes for different folks, right?  Now, remember…I AM known as… “The Crazy One” at work, remember?  This is so, so true, folks!!!  NO KIDDING!!!

Anyways, I do tend to… “BOND” …with my patients.  I remember, too well, what it was like and how I felt when I WAS… one of them!!!  Folks, my car accident and the horrible memories I have of being in hospitals and rehab. centers will remain, ever present, in my mind… DAILY!!!  Yep, tears are filling both eyes as I type this out…

Whew…moving right along…I was blessed with the opportunity of working with a fine gentlemen yesterday.  He recounted a very touching story of a woman who prepared marvelous meals for her family.  After each meal she said to her children:  “Now, hang onto your fork, kids.  THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!”

Years later, a pastor at church noted the same elderly woman EVERY WEEK, who held a fork between both hands placed together in praying form at chin level.  Curiosity got the best of him as he finally approached  her to inquire about the meaning of that fork…and her need to bring it to church every week.  The woman’s face brightened up with a wide smile and her eyes twinkled as she stated, “THE BEST IS YET TO COME” while maintaining that fork between both of her hands in praying form… (FOOD for “thought” delivered at church by preaching…THE WORD.)  And YES…“THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!!”

Wow!  Yep, I “BONDED” with another patient at work yesterday.  This amazing gentleman went on to recount how he had been so touched by this story that he gave each of his children their own fork to hold onto AND… FAITH that YES… “THE BEST IS YET TO COME”…  VERY TOUCHING, INDEED!
